With the release of the first song from their next album, Black Soprano Family is back.
The Black Soprano Family has joined DJ Premier’s stellar roster of collaborators for a brand-new, hard-hitting song. It is the group’s debut song from the upcoming album Long Live DJ Shay, which will be released on September 9. Rick Hyde and Heem were part of the first Black Soprano Family, which was presented in 2020 by Benny the Butcher and DJ Drama.

The songs “Times Is Rough” also features Hyde and Heem. Over a swaggering track from Premier that features a boom-bap beat and a loud horn part, they trade bars with Benny. As the rappers talk about their history of drug peddling, the lines stand out: “I’m a product of the cocaine 80s, drug war.”
