Nas and Hit-Boy are on their king sh*t. To kick off the second quarter of 2021, the Grammy award-winning artist and producer released the music video for their Judas and the Black Messiah: The Inspired Album track, “EPMD.”

The Child-directed music video starts with a School Daze-inspired scene before a reminder flashes across the screen. “Reclaim our cultural ownership. Don’t compromise,” it reads. “Don’t cross over…Respect to the Kings, love to the Queens.”

As the self-made entrepreneur raps about living on that “mobb sh*t” level, the Queens native switches up his attire with a few suits and gets tended to by white butlers on the premise of a Beverly Hills mansion. Of course, beautiful women decked in acrylic nail sets, classic gold bamboo earrings, and bikinis are peppered throughout the video.

“Murcielago mob flow, ’20 Chevy Tahoe/ Then I’m sittin’ low, I am not hidin’ though,” he raps on the Hit-Boy produced track. “Condos in different time zones (Time zones)/ Way before y’all was double cuppin’ the styrofoam.”

Vintage cars, brunch with teacups of Hennessy, a mob of rams to symbolize rulership…Black excellence is exuded in every shot and Nas the epitome of it. Although certain shots are a visual nod to the original hip-hop duo EPMD (Erick Sermon and Parrish Smith) and their Unfinished Business (1989) album cover, it would’ve been dope to see them make a random appearance in this video.

“EPMD” and Judas and the Black Messiah: The Inspired Album are available on all streaming platforms.
