Often, label deals come with their own set of hassles, including pressure on artistes to make formulaic commercial music and chart-topping albums. As such, most artistes are of the view that labels don’t really have their artists’ interests at heart, therefore, artistes don’t need labels to make vital, evocative music and establish successful careers.
But Gladstorm Kwabena Akwaboah Jnr., known by his stage name Akwaboah Jnr, has revealed in an interview with Mikki Osei Berko of TV3 ‘After Hours’ fame that SarkCess Music signees are not in bondage comparably to other labels.
“One thing with SarkCess is they allow you to do what you want to do, is not like they infringe on your rights or they tell you what to do. Sarkodie allows you to bring what you have in your mind, what you have in your spirit because he feels that’s what will make you.
“I am enjoying everything now because everything that happens around me, I am part of it. So I know the dos and don’ts of it. It is better than getting everything and entrusting all of it to someone”, Akwaboah stated.
Akwaboah is currently promoting his debut album christened ‘Matters of The Heart’ wish was wholly produced by SarkCess Music.
